After two days of showing exciting art work beautifully integrated into their respective stations I wondered what to follow this up with... Looking at different station ID plates or decals felt like returning to much more basic design... Beautiful in its own way!
Neat use of negative space! As Columbus Circle is a main station for me I'm trying different approaches... Hopefully at some point over time I will feel that I have captured it well in its entirety... This is the ID sign used on the A, B, C, D platforms...
Then I traveled south... 23 St station on the C, E lines... This is a long station... With exits from 23 to 25 St...
Arrows and numbers! What's not to like?
Typical set up: Bench under station ID.
23 St station exit, 1 line. Love it! It is sooo creepy!
Same station...
Not quite as usual. Bench: Check! Decal: Check! Symmetry: Not quite!
As well: Strange use of the red tile... Maybe they ran out of it?
Phone in the waiting area. Some girl was actually using it just seconds before this shot...
Strange... I mean she just had walked into the station, could have used her cell phone, no?
Maybe she was with AT&T!
Phone! Apparently working...
Mirror at the 18 St station, 1 line... Mmmh, don't quite see it as being in working condition though...
Typical set up at same station. Simple! Love it! Strange color theme though...
Can't quite figure out what the colors are supposed to be... Warmish, reddish, I guess...
Maybe it was told that autumn colors were best to bring out its personality?
The most southern part of yesterday's trip: 14 St on the 1, 2, 3 lines...
Have to go back there... More stuff to shoot!
By your comment, "Strange... I mean she just had walked into the station, could have used her cell phone, no? Maybe she was with AT&T!" ... Cell phone doesn't work underground.

ReplyDeleteThank you for your comment.
There are actually several stations which provide cell phone reception in NYC: W4 St, 23 St (C, E),
72 St (1, 2, 3), etc... What I was hinting at was though that the girl had just stepped into the station... Why didn't she use her cell phone when she was still upstairs?
