NYC walk in the 50s and lower 60s...

Unfortunately I'm not talking Fahrenheit here! It turned cold again in the city... After last week's warmer temperatures I had hoped that we had seen the last of this winter, but no!

Cold weather makes me really not want to go out and take pictures... Unless it's for money of course! ;) But I'm talking about personal projects here... Winter seems to make me want to rather curl up and stay in... But today (using that term loosely as in "before sleep") I finally went out again...
I thought about being in New York City and trying to make the most of it... This is a fabulous place... I just have to take more advantage of living here!

Well, I guess I have cheated a little since I was mainly underground... It got pretty chilly though on my way over from Lexington to Columbus Circle... ;)

  1. Dirk - these are stunning pictures: vivid, warm and beautifully capture one of my favourite cities and also my favourite time of day - dusk. Bravo!

  2. Thank you, Mona! Dusk (or dawn to the more morningly inclined) seems to work well with the subway/underground theme... I guess it's about going from one state to the next... Kind of subdued lighting... Not sure where one is yet... Maybe that's why the bright number 2 train does feel so weird!

I mean this is what I basically strive for: To show how I see the world and be appreciated for it! Thank you for sharing!

  7. It's great to see photos of New York that go beyond the standard shots of skyscrapers and celebrities. These photos show to us who do not live there that New York is a place where "ordinary" people live, work, and ride the subway. I'll go ahead and be pretentious by saying that these photos are extraordinary in showing the ordinary.

@samc: Wow! I heard that NYC was quite different (a lot rougher) at that time. Would love to hear more about your impressions!
